Emotiva mr1's and xonars are the only on board line amps in that price range which would be decent enough for you to be satisfied with.

Am I mistaken in thinking Xonar is better than the ZMF darren's?

Not sure if he compared them. But generally both of them are fine in the 80-$150 range. If the review that I read is like the review for the xonar, it goes in and out of bass boost and has other issues. So I generally turn of those buttons and leave both of them the way they are, and use whatever amp and speaker combo I'm using. Xonar generally sounds better than the X2's I have had.

The box says the Xonar EM-1s output equal to the X2, but there doesn't seem to be any actual lab tests comparing them, etc... I'd be a bit disappointed if the Xonars made a real significant improvement over a pair of darren's

Rfc 5322

Rfc 5322 is probably your culprit. Set it to disable phone numbers as you navigate pages. Probably needs a settings update. Except Google stops it from working. Google Voice works well. That's interesting. I had no problems with gv after it was disabled. Yeah, and you can still send SMS texts to your GV phone number it is just that only the number you choose appears on the screen rather than the number that Google has sent you your SMS to. (I think) It's not just gv. That's why I'm saying it should get updated. Apparently it is an rfc 5308 type protocol. I would believe as much. The good ol' RFC isn't the most well-documented of things. And without a reliable way to track it down, it is difficult to patch things. Do you have a link to info about that? I was unaware. I can't dig it up. I just know it exists. And that at the time of rfc 5322 it was known to be broken.
