Famous rock formations monkey wrench it. Do you go to a national monument? If so, you can get in for free on your ID and get tickets. This was a big part of our plan when planning, there are so many national parks that we have the perfect place and time to visit/stay. I'd also suggest seeing if there is a music festival in your area.

Definitely have that plan, especially the music festival. I've actually never actually seen Mt Rushmore at night before so that would be awesome. We're definitely going to get to a few national parks, not quite sure which ones yet.

My go to was Yellowstone. If it's crowded, get there at least an hour ahead. If you're out of town, take an earlier bus, or that day. And don't freak out if the park is closed. It's free anyways. And good luck on your trip!
