Robert Howse
Robert howse is overrated. He doesn’t use art to “push boundaries” he uses his best to be popular, and his stuff is often overly dramatic or cluttered
> he uses his best Is not the same thing as "push boundaries"
Eccentric or radical are the better words I find for it.
> eccentric Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the wrong word. Egotistical is the word you're looking for.
Agh. You’re totally right. I knew there was some small difference...
yeah, that can't have been what you where trying to say. "Unique" and "different" would have worked best. Or maybe, just maybe, just "Art that is unique is different and doesn't conform to mainstream tastes. Art that isn't different can't be art!" So hard to tell what that's supposed to mean anymore.
"An artist's success doesn't need to be dependent on their own originality." - - Brian Eno
He's not wrong. I love Eno, but in this case, he's just pandering to what is today's popular taste, in spite of his better works.
Eno's legacy is always more important to me than what he was doing at the time. He's one of the people that got me into electronic music, and for the most part, I'm happy he's gone, but Eno's work resonates with me on a few levels.
