Lillian Vedder
Lillian vedder can actually pull this off for me in hella cute and in the middle of the play. Edit: I knew there would be the willies in here. In an ideal world this is what you would have and I think it's cool. But in reality it is pretty much likely a male only casting. The theater I work at does it all the time. It just helps the the venue for a few nights to have a pretty cool show on what will most likely be a shit show with minimal budget.
Honestly what does have a little queer edge is Nina Arianda who is awesomely enough trans and a beautiful human being. And not a bit dudely. I think we can have a game changer on the men/women front in this play with a little feminist feminism.
She's a really underrated, great performer.
I feel that all the time. But sadly it makes her harder to get work from many theater companies or venues or whatever since they seem to sorta pick their own ppl. Oh well. This is my first season as a Equity Pro. After taking so many musical theater classes I am really happy to have an opportunity to tell a show about the trans women that play hookie after work (well a trans woman and her friend but w/e).
That's awesome! I've always been curious what that business aspect was like. I think it is important in queer theater that cis actors cross over into trans roles and lead parts. Have you applied to any theaters or been on any opening lists yet?
I'm an Equity Pro, so at least a lot of companies know about and think I'm cool that I played a non binary trans woman this season. I'm pretty lucky
Congrats, that's really great!
