Charlottesville Verizon Outage

Charlottesville verizon outage was caused by a fiber cut or something, it's not related to anything crazy at the nsa.

There are fiber-optic pipelines that cross the border between Charlottesville and Manassas. I highly doubt anything to do with it.

I was thinking it wasn't just the nsa, but that the location was more likely the cause, though I didn't mean the whole of the nation. :P

Sorry, for some reason I read "I think Charlottesville" as "iirc," in a sort of a general sort of way.

I always take the general "iirc..." attitude toward this.

Yeah I wouldn't put it past my stupidity to have done so in the past, but I don't think so anymore. Just funny since I never knew the town's name in relation to something like that. Do some searching and you can actually find some maps that are clear on where the center of the outage is vs how far out it goes on Charlottesville's side of things.

That's exactly why it happens, don't worry lol. I'm so used to writing like that.

Rfc 5322

Rfc 5322 is probably your culprit. Set it to disable phone numbers as you navigate pages. Probably needs a settings update. Except Google stops it from working. Google Voice works well. That's interesting. I had no problems with gv after it was disabled. Yeah, and you can still send SMS texts to your GV phone number it is just that only the number you choose appears on the screen rather than the number that Google has sent you your SMS to. (I think) It's not just gv. That's why I'm saying it should get updated. Apparently it is an rfc 5308 type protocol. I would believe as much. The good ol' RFC isn't the most well-documented of things. And without a reliable way to track it down, it is difficult to patch things. Do you have a link to info about that? I was unaware. I can't dig it up. I just know it exists. And that at the time of rfc 5322 it was known to be broken.
