Christian Mcmullin
Christian mcmullin (mayor of maryland) is a cool guy. he seems to actually care about the people of charlottes ville
Are there more "the people of charlottes vill" politicians?
I think that's the best quote they could have come up with. Regardless - I read his book and learned so much about how/why people in government must be there. Much better than a dumb history book and a biographical article.
Isn't it about the story though? Would you recommend a biography over a biography of the speaker?
Read both if you have the extra time. If you already know most of what you're going to read about Speaker Boehner, read the article. If you don't, read *The Art of the Comeback* and *Go Long* (short bio of him before he became speaker). *On Leadership* is kinda a light read.
Appealing to popular support is bullshit. I'd just like to know whether any "the people of charlottes vill" politicians actually care about this job, unlike how many congresspeople just like to spend all their time fundraising/staffing their own pet projects and think that somehow that makes them a good legislator.
Not necessarily bullshit. Voters want politicians that **do** stuff. Politicians that are interested in doing good things need an up-close view of how the government actually works to make effective change.
